As a valued member of the  finance team, you will  assist our organisation run smoothly and compliantly meeting the needs of an expanding NFP Organisation.

About You

You are looking for a position that will give you exposure to various aspects within a Finance team. You are keen to develop your skills and have a drive to achieve sound financial outcomes that align to organization strategy and objectives. You are adaptable to change in an environment where not only is the sector changing, our organization is changing with it.  In addition, you will have:

  • Desire to progress career in accounting
  • Financial accounting & reporting expertise and knowledge of accounting standards,
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce, and be progressing toward CPA, CA or equivalent
  • 3+ years' accounting experience, ideally  within disability or health sector
  • Detail-focused, organised, and proactive
  • Knowledge of NDIS finance processes an advantage
  • High level of numeracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, with confidence in engaging internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP systems

It is a requirement of this position to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and meet all compliance requirements concerning NDIS Work Screening, Working with Children Check, work rights and possess a current & valid driver's licence.

About the Role

This role has been created due to growth of our Finance  team. The Assistant Accountant will have an opportunity to develop accounting skills across various aspects of the finance function. 

This role will:

  • Maintain accurate financial records and assist with month-end and year-end processes
  • Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Manage fixed asset registers, including capitalisation and depreciation
  • Process staff claims and manage on-charging for client expenses
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing
  • Prepare payment batches, month-end journals, and audit deliverables
  • Manage NDIA claims and reconcile revenue, maintaining accurate databases
  • Support the continuous improvement of financial systems and internal controls

This role will operate on a blended model of working part of your time from home and part from our head office in Dandenong South.
