Our Health Service is expanding. An exciting opportunity has arisen within the West Moreton Health Nutrition and Food Services team for a motivated and enthusiastic Cook.

About the role

This position will be located at the new Ripley Specialised Inpatient Services facility, which is introducing a new cook-fresh, on-demand Food Service model supported by an Electronic Patient Menu Management System (ePMMS). The position plays an integral role in the provision of a safe and nutritious food service to patients and is responsible for high-quality food provided in a timely, accurate and consistent manner.

Ripley Specialised Inpatient Services is a state-of-the-art facility that will deliver 90 additional beds in West Moreton as part of Queensland Health's Accelerated Infrastructure Delivery Program. The project will deliver a three-storey facility located on Botany Drive, South Ripley. It is located on the Ripley Health Campus and is co-located with the current Satellite Health Centre.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • An understanding and appreciation of the need for client/patient and facility confidentiality and privacy to be observed at all times.
  • Ability to problem solve and use initiative, work with a minimum of supervision, communicate and work cooperatively with other members of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Good communication skills in relation to other staff, clients and visitors.
  • Ability to work in porterage, patient handling, cleaning, courier, waste and linen services.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge of hygiene standards, infection control practices, workplace health and safety, total quality management, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination practices and behaviour as applied in the working environment.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
