Take the next step in your career with this exciting permanent opportunity as a Director, Genomics in the Office of Research and Innovation.
As the Director, Genomics you will be responsible for providing authoritative advice and strategic, professional leadership of the Genomics function within the Office of Research and Innovation (ORI) in the Department of Health. This includes providing system leadership, governance, and policy oversight of Queensland Health's genomics activities.
You will
- Provide system leadership and develop and maintain strong relationships to support the achievement of Queensland Health's strategic objectives for genomics.
- Provide timely, authoritative and strategic advice on genomics health care and translational research, supporting Queensland Health's participation in a range of projects, activities and governance bodies.
- Represent Queensland Health's interests on genomics-related forums and governance bodies genomics in Queensland, interjurisdictional and national levels as appropriate.
- Lead the development and delivery of actions for genomics priorities for the Office of Research and Innovation and the Division, including delivering complex projects in accordance with best practice project management methodologies, to ensure outputs and outcomes are achieved.
About you
We are searching for someone with:
- Demonstrated leadership capability in a public sector environment.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of genomics within the Queensland and Australian health system including interfaces with research and industry.
- Highly effective interpersonal skills (both oral and written), including demonstrated ability to consult, negotiate and influence staff at all levels and provide authoritative advice to senior management on a range of complex and sensitive issues, and the ability to prepare complete, accurate and timely submissions, briefings, and reports.
- Demonstrated experience in leading a team and people management skills in accordance with contemporary human resource practices, including the ability to effectively coach and mentor staff.
