
Principal Health and Safety Advisor, Queensland Health

We are looking for a Principal Health and Safety Advisor to shape wellbeing strategy, drive psychosocial improvements, reduce risk, and elevate care across Queensland Health.
What you'll do
- Design, deliver and monitor effectiveness of the health, safety and wellbeing management system, programs and initiatives for Queensland Health.
- Establish and integrate processes for managing health and safety risk statewide.
- Establish and monitor health and safety assurance requirements, activities and reporting across Queensland Health.
- Provide expert, strategic advice and support Executive and senior management on a range of complex organisational health, safety and wellbeing, injury management and workers' compensation issues to assist with strategic planning, particularly for psychosocial hazards.
- Provide high-level expertise to manage allocated tasks and resources to deliver safety outcomes through effective and efficient project management principles.
- Monitor, review and undertake complex analysis of health and safety incidents, performance reports and legislation to assist Officers to meet their Due Diligence duties, and to ensure the safety management system's effectiveness and maturation towards a best practice Safety Leadership Culture.
- Prepare advice and correspondence regarding health, safety and wellbeing programs, projects and governance, including the review and development of policies, guidelines and tools.
- Manage stakeholder relationships with HHSs, industry Regulators, insurers, unions, government agencies and community groups.
About you
We are searching for someone with:
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge and understanding of contemporary health, safety and wellbeing strategies and initiatives, including national and state policies, legislation, standards and trends, and the proven ability to apply that knowledge to develop and implement effective systems, policies and programs within a large public sector organisation.
- A record of achievement in developing, implementing, evaluating and continually improving strategic organisation-wide health, safety and wellbeing management systems and strategies within complex environments.
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills with the proven ability to analyse performance data and provide strategic advice and reports to drive systems improvement.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships and effectively liaise and collaborate with a range of stakeholders to facilitate their cooperation and support to achieve desired outcomes.
