About Us

Our mission is to brighten the lives of seriously ill children, young people and their families. Our programs bring them fun, joy and laughter when they need it most… because happiness matters. When you join Starlight, you'll:

  • Change lives for the better, positively impacting the lives of seriously ill children, young people, and their families.

  • We work to our strengths; we care about each other, and we work collaboratively.
  • Be included in an exceptional team. We've been recognised as a Great Place to Work, we're one of AFR's Most Innovative Companies and we're also the most trusted children's charity in Australia.

About the Role

As a Family Relationship Coordinator, you'll play a vital role in our Wishgranting Program, serving as the main point of contact for families, helping to bring wishes to life alongside a passionate and dedicated team.

Building strong relationships with families and helping deliver unforgettable Starlight experiences will be your day-to-day You'll work closely with health professionals, our Wish Experience team, and other parts of the org to make sure every child and young person feels seen, supported, and celebrated. From welcoming families into the program to coordinating Box Office activities and seeing the wishes through, you'll be there every step of the way.

This role is a part-time ( 3 days a week) 12-month contract. We're open to discussing spreading the hours across 4 or 5 days.

About you

You've worked in health, welfare or community settings and understand the importance of professional boundaries and trauma-informed care. You're someone who builds strong, respectful relationships and knows how to support families through challenging times. You're confident navigating sensitive conversations, and you bring empathy, resilience and professionalism to everything you do.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • A qualification or solid experience in health services, social work, welfare, or a related field.
  • Experience working directly with families, ideally supporting children or young people.
  • A strong understanding of family-centred care and how to advocate for what's best for each family.
  • Confidence using systems and databases—every conversation and detail is tracked in our CRM, so being tech-savvy is key.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to work across teams to make things happen.
