The Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced Production / Project Manager to oversee our busy workshop operations across fabrication (including laser cutting), machining, and painting.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll guide a skilled team, drive productivity, and ensure our projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead & Mentor: Supervise and support workshop staff to achieve safety, quality, and productivity goals
  • Plan & Coordinate: Manage production schedules, resources, and daily operations to meet DIFOT and customer commitments
  • Quality & Compliance: Ensure output meets customer and industry standards, with strict adherence to WHS protocols
  • Engage & Communicate: Collaborate with production, planning, and clients to solve challenges and maintain strong relationships
  • Drive Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimise processes and lead continuous improvement initiatives

About You

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

Essential:

  • 5+ years' experience supervising in a fabrication or machining workshop environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of fabrication, machining processes, and industry standards
  • Proven ability to read and interpret detailed technical drawings
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
  • Solid knowledge of WHS practices and commitment to safety culture
  • Proficiency in basic computer systems and ERP/production tracking tools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable:

  • Trade or engineering qualifications
  • Experience in managing multi-discipline teams (fabrication, machining, painting)
  • Exposure to Lean or Continuous Improvement initiatives
