The Role: State Manager (QLD) Social Enterprise
This is an exceptional opportunity to provide strategic and operational leadership across Outlook's social enterprise portfolio in Queensland. You will be crucial in ensuring the delivery of sustainable commercial outcomes that align with and advance the organisation's purpose.

Key Focus Areas:
- Strategic & Business Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans for state-wide growth, identify new business opportunities, and prepare tenders/submissions to secure contracts.
- Driving Sustainability: Oversee operations across transfer stations, reuse shops, and future ventures, ensuring long-term sustainability and profitability.
- People and Culture: Lead a diverse workforce, model Outlook's values, and build an inclusive, positive culture.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with councils, government agencies, industry bodies, and partners.
- Financial & Operational Oversight: Accountable for budgets and financial performance, asset management, contractual compliance, and ensuring consistent customer service excellence.
- Quality & Safety: Promote safety, ensure compliance with relevant regulations, and maintain high standards of quality across all sites.
This role requires regular travel across Queensland Social Enterprise sites and may include some interstate travel.
About You
We are seeking a dynamic leader with a strong commercial acumen and a genuine commitment to social impact.
Mandatory Selection Criteria:
- Proven senior management experience in a commercial, operational, or social enterprise environment.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance financial sustainability and social outcomes.
- Demonstrated business development, negotiation, and partnership-building skills.
- Proven experience in contract, asset, and financial management.
- Demonstrated experience leading diverse teams, driving culture, and delivering results.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to deliver complex initiatives to deadline.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Commitment to inclusion, diversity, and empowerment of people with disability and disadvantage.
- Must hold a current QLD Driver's License.
Highly Desirable:
- Experience in waste management, resource recovery, recycling, or similar sectors.
- Experience in a not-for-profit or social enterprise context.
- Tertiary qualifications in business, management, or related fields.
- Experience in working with or alongside Local Government or Government organisations.
