Primary objective

Support the implementation of the Rehabilitation and Reintegration Framework by developing policy advice, coordinating

stakeholder input, and contributing to project planning and reporting. The role ensures policy alignment with strategic

objectives and supports culturally safe, trauma-informed rehabilitation initiatives in custodial settings.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Support the implementation of the Rehabilitation and Reintegration Framework through policy development, analysis,

and coordination.

1. Draft high-quality policy documents, reports, briefings, and Ministerial correspondence that communicate complex

issues clearly and effectively.

1. Contribute to project planning, monitoring, and reporting in collaboration with the Project Implementation Lead.

2. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to gather input, build consensus, and ensure policy alignment with strategic

objectives and across the agency.

1. Identify and assess risks, opportunities, and emerging issues relevant to rehabilitation and reintegration in custodial

settings.

1. Maintain awareness of best practice, legislative changes, and sector developments to inform policy advice and

implementation.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated experience in developing policy and providing advice to senior executives on complex social policy.

1. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data, legislation, and strategic frameworks to

inform policy and program development.

1. High-level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders

across government and community sectors.

1. Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary public policy frameworks, research techniques, and protocols, including

experience in community engagement and inter- and intra-governmental collaboration.

1. Proven ability to support project planning, coordination, and reporting within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Desirable

1. Relevant qualifications in public policy or related field.

2. Knowledge and understanding of rehabilitation and reintegration in custodial settings.

Further information

The Department of Corrections has a Smoke Free Policy. Staff are not permitted to smoke anywhere on Departmental
