Primary objective

Provide high quality project management and coordination of strategic initiatives in response to current and emerging

priorities, including evidence-based research and analysis, high-level reporting, stakeholder engagement activities and

managing targeted funding initiatives.

Context statement

The Early Childhood branch provides high level leadership of strategic policy initiatives and targeted programs to improve

the quality and integration of early childhood services to maximise outcomes for children and young people in the Northern

Territory. The Early Childhood branch also leads local and national early childhood policy reforms and key projects, provides

advice to the Minister and the department's senior executive, and engages with a broad range of stakeholders to benefit our

clients.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide high-level advice, analysis, and collaboration across a broad range of matters that impact the delivery of policy,

projects and programs across government and non-government schools and the early childhood education and care

sector.

  1. Provide high level information and project management support to the Strategic Policy and Project Coordination team

to enable the effective delivery of projects.

  1. Research, consult and develop and/or inform policy positions to support the development and implementation of

strategies relating to new Australian and Northern Territory Government (NTG) reform initiatives.

  1. Manage the delivery of collaborative programs, strategic projects, and funding initiatives.
  2. Prepare high-level briefings, reports, submissions, and correspondence as required.
  3. Develop and maintain relationships and collaborative partnerships across the agency, and with external stakeholders

including networking and collaboration on projects.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Highly developed written and oral communication skills to support the development and ongoing management of

projects and the preparation of high-level briefings, papers, presentations, and reporting.

2. Demonstrated ability to research and analyse information, review existing policies, programs and projects and other

information to identify opportunities for continuous improvement strategies.

3. Demonstrated high-level organisational and time management skills with the capacity to prioritise competing

requirements, work under pressure, and meet critical deadlines while maintaining quality of work.

4. Demonstrated ability to operate efficiently and reliably with minimal supervision and work effectively within a team

environment.

5. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective

networks with a range of internal and external stakeholders and interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.

Desirable

1. Relevant tertiary qualification in public policy, business, education, early childhood, community development or other

related discipline.
