
APS6 Project Officer

The Strategy and Innovation team is seeking a proactive, solutions-focused individual to provide essential support for our key projects and initiatives. You'll play a central role in ensuring the smooth delivery of our program, working closely with the Program Director and Senior Project Officers on activities that drive safety and quality improvements across the Australian healthcare system.
This is a dynamic and varied support role where your excellent organisational, writing, and communication skills will be put to full use. You will be instrumental in keeping our projects on track by managing documentation, coordinating key activities, and providing high-level administrative support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Support: Input into project planning, documentation, monitoring progress, and proactively identifying and proposing solutions to potential issues
- Documentation & Briefing: Draft, edit, and collate high-quality written materials, including briefing notes, meeting papers, correspondence, and submissions for diverse internal and external audiences
- Secretariat Support: Provide comprehensive secretariat support for committees and expert groups, including preparing agendas, taking detailed meeting notes, and managing logistics
- Financial & Contract Management: Support procurement and contract management activities, including financial administration, budget preparation, invoicing, and monitoring
- Research & Analysis: Research, review, and analyse data, reports, and expert opinion to provide clear, informed advice that supports program development
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate effectively with internal teams, and liaise with external agencies, clinical organizations, consumer groups, and government bodies
Key Requirements:
We are looking for a candidate with proven experience and a positive, professional approach.
Demonstrated Project Management experience, with excellent time management and organisational skills to manage competing priorities effectively
- Strong Writing and Editing Skills capable of producing high-level documents such as briefing papers and submissions
- Proven Secretariat Experience in supporting committees or expert groups
- Demonstrated experience in Contract Management and Procurement processes
- Excellent Interpersonal and Communication Skills, including the ability to build productive working relationships with diverse stakeholders
- An understanding of government processes and the ability to apply initiative and professional judgment.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of the Australian healthcare system and key safety and quality issues in health care
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant area
