Australia Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) Full time $106,940 - $113,620 per year

Are you ready to use your skills and experience in communications for progressive change and building collective power for AMWU members?

We are looking to fill two roles in our National Communications Team. The team supports AMWU members to build power in their workplaces, campaign for the things that matter to them at work and deliver positive change in their industries and communities.

It's a time of great opportunity for AMWU members, and a time when we need Communications Officers who are ready to share our members' stories, develop campaign materials, communicate the unions ambition and amplify our workplace disputes. Our Communications Officers also support the ongoing work of the union with marketing and reference materials and regular digital and printed communications.

This is the role for you if you are looking for a challenging and dynamic role in a small team. You'll get to use your creativity and initiative on a broad range of projects that make real impacts on the lives of workers. We are particularly looking for people with experience in:

  • Copy writing and proofing
  • Media and marketing
  • Social media
  • Campaigns support – all the way from planning through to execution

We highly value experience in a union or membership organisation, but please apply if your experience has developed elsewhere and you're able to demonstrate how your skills are transferable.

Our Organisation

The Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union (AMWU) is a progressive trade Union dedicated to advancing the rights and wellbeing of manufacturing workers and their communities. AMWU members work in the metals trades, printing, paper industry, vehicle industry, food and confectionery industry as well as technical trades and professions.

At the AMWU we are driven by our values. We are democratic, inclusive, fair and respectful; we do what we say; and we work strategically, standing together as one to deliver outcomes for members. We pride ourselves on bold member-led campaigns that effect real change and build workers' power.

The AMWU is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. We strongly encourage applications from First Nations people, women, people with disability, people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and LGBTIQ+ people.
