Senior Application Specialist
We are seeking a skilled Application Specialist with strong expertise in Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Dataverse).
The role focuses on designing, developing, implementing, and supporting business applications that enhance productivity, streamline processes, and improve user experience. The Application Specialist will work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and ensure ongoing application performance and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and maintain Power Apps (primarily Canvas apps, some business logic).
- Reverse-engineer and improve existing Power Apps code (approx. 70% of solution already built).
- Design and implement data migration into Microsoft Dataverse (initial one-off loads and potential scheduled integrations).
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, Business Analysts, and project teams to refine requirements.
- Ensure solutions are future-proof and scalable (not just point-in-time fixes).
- Support testing, deployment, and release management for Release 1 and beyond.
- Work within Agile practices, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and using Agile boards.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong background in Microsoft Power Platform, especially Power Apps development.
- Proven experience with Dataverse migrations and integrating source system data.
- Ability to reverse-engineer and refactor code to improve existing solutions.
- Solid understanding of Power Automate workflows and business logic integration.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills – able to liaise with both technical and non-technical users.
- Experience working under pressure in high-visibility, senior stakeholder environments.
- Familiarity with Agile ways of working.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience in higher education or university projects.
- Exposure to REST API integrations and custom connectors.
- Knowledge of Power BI integration (data models, reporting).
Other Details
- This is a high-priority project with senior executive visibility. Candidate must be comfortable delivering under pressure.
- Strong preference for candidates who can start within 1–2 weeks (immediately available ideal, but not at the expense of quality).
- Candidate must be comfortable with cameras on for remote meetings (university policy).
- There will only be one developer assigned to this Power Apps application, so the role requires independence and ownership.
