Primary objective
This position has a focus on the professional development and learning opportunities for Aboriginal educators in remote schools through
sustainable, approaches that align with career aspirations and the schools strategic direction. This position specifically focuses on training
and professional development opportunities for remote Aboriginal Educators in Maningrida and includes travel to and staying in
community on a rotating basis during the Term of 2 weeks in Maningrida and 1 week working from a Palmerston based site.
Context statement
Maningrida College is located in Arnhem Land approximately 530km from Darwin with approximately 660 students enrolled from
preschool through to Year 12. The school caters for students from birth to senior secondary, inclusive of multiple outstation homeland
schools. Our students are Indigenous EAL/D learners. The school has a strategic focus on improving student wellbeing and engagement,
implementing a Science of reading influenced Literacy Block and building Aboriginal Educator capacity and growing our Indigenous
workforce.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Responsible for developing a training agenda for Aboriginal educators that considers current workforce capability and develops skills
relevant to workforce and schooling needs.
- Work collaboratively with the Registered Training Offices and Department of Education, to deliver a quality workplace readiness and
 
core skills program responsive to the needs of the school's strategic direction.
- Data collection, understand Assistant Teacher standards, workload trends and program development to achieve an integrated best
 
practice approach to service delivery.
- Oversee delivery of tailored, evidence-based non-accredited professional learning for Aboriginal Educators.
 - Work with other Senior Teachers, Assistant Principals, and College Principal to drive the development of education and school
 
priorities as outlined in the ASIP at the College.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Extensive experience working with cross cultural and/or remote indigenous education settings alongside Indigenous team members
2. Demonstrated success in analysing data, developing engaging planning, training, coaching or mentoring programs based on individual
aspirations, goals and workplace capacity building
3. Highly developed cross-cultural communication, support and empowerment of Indigenous team members who may or may not have
engaged in accredited or non-accredited training before
4. Highly developed engagement and relationship building skills including the ability to innovate, manage change and influence outcomes
across organisational boundaries with a diverse range of stakeholders.
5. A comprehensive understanding of the NT Indigenous and Languages curriculum, EAL/D remote NT educational needs and the ability
to organise and facilitate engagement in accredited training for Indigenous staff members
6. Demonstrated ability to manage, in partnership with the College Leadership Team, innovation and school improvement relating to the
ASIP, School-wide Positive Behaviour and Explicit Instructional Model

Applicants are required to have a current working with children clearance notice (Ochre Card), a current driver's licence, and be willing to
travel remotely by 4WD and in light aircraft. This position requires staying overnight in remote communities for 2 weeks at a time.
