About the role
Temporary full time opportunity to provide mental health screening and diversion for people appearing before the magistrates' court or detained in the local watch-house. The purpose of this service is the early identification of people with a mental illness to ensure that appropriate mental health treatment, advice or referral is made.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Undertake mental health assessments (including those people with complex psychosocial circumstances) in watch house and court settings by using a high degree of independent judgement and problem solving skills.
- Apply professional judgement to complex cases, utilising evidence based clinical practice.
- Work cooperatively and effectively within a multidisciplinary team; with police and justice personnel and with patients/clients.
- Monitoring and reporting on clinical practices and outcomes within the Queensland Forensic Mental Health Service (QFMHS) and actively participate in initiating, developing and implementing quality and service improvement activities.
