Would you like to join our dynamic Embassy team in Canberra representing Finland, the happiest country in the world? We are recruiting a Communications and Public Relations Coordinator to boost Finland's visibility and connections in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.

The successful candidate will have previous professional experience from media, communications and/or public relations. We also appreciate interest towards political, trade and societal affairs, and knowledge on Finland/Nordics is seen as an asset. Please confirm in your application that these conditions are met. The role also requires a full-time in person presence in Canberra and includes occasional work travel.

Your main duties:

  • Supporting the Ambassador and Embassy team in communications and public relations work

  • Maintain and grow media contacts, and organise media visits to Finland

  • Develop the Embassy's social media presence and work on updating other external communication platforms by curating digital content to promote Finland's interests and visibility

  • Liaise with Finnish companies, Team Finland and other partners to align business and country branding communications

  • Create and distribute promotional and internal materials for Finland's country brand building

  • Plan, coordinate and assist with the Embassy events and projects

  • Act as the first contact point for inquiries about Finland

You will:

  • Hold professional experience from media, communications or public relations

  • Have relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. from communications, public relations, political science)

  • Have ability to align communications and public relations work with Embassy's strategic goals, including foreign and security policy, trade promotion, consular and country image objectives.

  • Have excellent verbal and written communications skills, and attention to detail

  • Have demonstrated track record on social media and other communication platforms

  • Have a good knowledge of the media landscape in Australia, preferably also familiarity of other countries in the Embassy's jurisdiction

  • Be a full-fledged team player who gets things done

  • Have strong social skills

  • Be a native or native level English speaker.

Knowledge of Finnish/Nordic societies and languages are seen as assets.
