About the Business & the Role

CLAY Health & Organics is an organic grocery business located in Melbourne in the northern suburbs close to the CBD. We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper / Accounts Officer to join our team and help manage the financial day-to-day operations of our three stores, which includes paying invoices, paying wages, BAS, Superannuation and PAYG.

This is a part-time role (approximately 30 hours across 4 days per week), with time spent in the stores and working from home. The role involves managing accounts and payroll for three trading entities within the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records and perform reconciliations
  • Process accounts payable and receivable
  • Prepare and lodge BAS, PAYG, and Superannuation
  • Manage payroll and employee entitlements
  • Ensure accurate WorkCover compliance, reporting and claims administration
  • Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting
  • Liaise with external Accountants
  • Provide general administrative and office support as required

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience in Bookkeeping or Accounting roles
  • Strong knowledge and proficiency of Xero, QuickBooks and Deputy rostering
  • Demonstrated experience in wages & payroll processing
  • Understanding of Australian accounting standards and ATO requirements
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Certificate IV in Bookkeeping/Accounting or relevant qualification (preferred)
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel
  • High level of professionalism and discretion with financial data
  • Multi-entity experience will be highly regarded
