Job Description
About the role
As an IT Facilities Support Technician at Sydney Airport, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation of our on-premises IT infrastructure. From managing communications rooms to coordinating with vendors and internal teams, your work will directly support our mission to be Australia's most connected and efficient international gateway.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where no two days are the same. You'll be part of a collaborative and supportive team within Group Operations—the largest team at SYD—working together to deliver a world-class passenger experience in a safe, secure, and dynamic environment.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to
- Maintain and monitor IT infrastructure including network hardware, cabling, UPS systems, and cooling units.
- Act as the first point of contact for communications room issues, resolving or escalating as needed.
- Coordinate installations, repairs, and decommissions with IT teams, facilities, and external vendors.
- Ensure compliance with IT policies, safety standards, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, power) and liaise with building management.
- Support capacity planning and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
About you
You're a proactive technician with a strong sense of ownership and a passion for operational excellence. You'll bring:
- Experience in IT support and/or facilities management, ideally in fast-paced environments.
- In-depth understanding of physical and cybersecurity best practices based on ISO 27001, ensuring robust protection of critical systems and controlled access to computer rooms.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively.
- A safety-first mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Experience with IT networks and vendor management (highly regarded).
- A flexible, team-oriented approach with a focus on delivering great outcomes for passengers and stakeholders.
