Position Overview:

The Technical Publication Writer assist in supporting the creation of Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETPs) using S1000D standards by assisting with data gathering, organization, and editing.

Works alongside Subject Matter Experts to ensure accuracy and compliance. These IETPs are used by Hanwha customers in operations and training, and sustaining Hanwha provided hardware and software solutions.

Primary Duties:

  • Assist in developing Operator and Maintenance manuals for military hardware.
  • Works with Subject Matter Experts to gather technical information for documentation.
  • Support department member with guidance on Defence standards for document production.
  • Interpret engineering technical data from various sources to create clear operator and maintenance instructions.
  • Perform other duties from your supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • A tertiary qualification in technical communication
  • Xml - knowledge in extended mark-up language.

Experience:

  • Proficient experience as a technical writer with S1000D in an Integrated Product Support environment within industry.
  • Experience in ASD-STE 100 (simplified technical English), DEFAUST 5629 and 5630.

Skills and Key Attributes:

  • Experience in the development of operator and maintainer manuals for complex equipment
  • Able to understand complex engineering concepts and read engineering documentation to produce simplified instructions.
  • Ability to effectively manage relationships and positively resolve disputes with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Meticulous approach to work, with the ability to identify potential risks and issues proactively.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work under tight deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Flexible and adaptability, as you'll be expected to quickly pivot and respond to changing priorities and dynamic work environments.
  • Understanding or knowledge of structured authoring
  • Experience using, or understanding of, extensible Markup Language
  • Experience writing documentation.
