About The Role
The City of Greater Geelong is reestablishing the operations of the Ocean Grove Neighbourhood House after the previous management have departed. This role will primarily support the establishment of administration systems to support community use of the facility and to re-engage and foster community growth in the region. You will coordinate and administer diverse programs that enhance lifelong learning, social, and economic outcomes for the local community, along with building and maintaining key strategic partnerships with community, educational, business, and government stakeholders, ensuring effective outreach and participation.

Work type: Fixed Term – Part Time (25hrs per week) 6 month contract
Classification: Band 6 Commencing at $48.46 per hour
Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and coordinate a schedule of high-quality programs and activities to support lifelong learning, lifestyle, and leisure that supports improved social and economic outcomes for the local community.
  • Conduct outreach activities which promote and encourage a range of people from the community to identify with, and participate in, the Neighbourhood House.
  • Establish and nurture strong connections with local groups, networks, and individuals to build community capacity.
  • Manage an active volunteer program for the Neighbourhood House by encouraging and assisting the involvement and participation of members of the community in the running of the Neighbourhood House.
  • Provide and maintain accurate administration, records for reporting and project evaluation, including budgeting, grant management, and financial oversight.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have Tertiary qualifications in Business Management, Social Sciences, Community Development related discipline and/or significant relevant work experience in the field.

Essential Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in community development practice, a sound knowledge of social justice principles, cultural safety and awareness strategies.
  • Sound knowledge of current social policy and political impacts on community cohesion and prosperity.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and lead and support a team of staff and volunteers.
  • Understanding of the philosophy of the Neighbourhood House Movement.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing projects and events.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
