Finance Manager

Location – Parramatta, minimum 50% office attendance required (in accordance with the DCJ Flexible Work Policy)

Employment type – Ongoing Full-time

Salary – Clerk Grade 11/12 $149,739 to $173,174 plus superannuation and leave loading

Your role

The role of a Finance Manager is to lead and direct the Teacher and Police Housing's finance activities and provide a range of strategic planning, budgeting and corporate reporting services that support key decision making for the Teacher and Police Housing.

What you'll do

As the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Oversee the preparation of all corporate reporting for the Teacher Housing Authority, including monthly financial and Board reports, GST and FBT tax returns, budgets and forecasts (both recurrent and capital), month-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations, and Treasury Prime reporting (actuals, projections, and budgets).
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including early close and year-end financial statements, in line with Australian Accounting Standards, Treasury policies, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Manage and coordinate the early-close and year-end audit with the NSW Audit Office and support the Authority at Audit and Risk Committee meetings by preparing and presenting relevant papers.
  • Provide strategic and technical accounting advice, with a strong understanding of the Treasury budget process for both Public Non-Financial Corporations (like the Teacher Housing Authority) and General Government entities (like the Department of Communities and Justice for Police Housing).
  • Lead the delivery of reliable and accurate financial services, ensuring integrity across all General Ledger transactions for both the Teacher Housing Authority and NSW Police Force Housing.
  • Lead and support a high-performing finance team, encouraging professional development and ensuring staff have the skills and support needed to meet their goals.

What we're looking for

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Up to date knowledge of Teacher and Police Housing, government, regulatory and professional systems, standards and requirements to ensure compliance and develop appropriate solutions to problems that comply with requirements.
  • Ability to provide high quality advice within very tight timelines to the Board to inform decision making.
  • Significant level of autonomy and ability to manage the day-to-day operations of the finance team.

Essential requirement:

Relevant tertiary qualification and eligibility for membership of a recognised professional accounting body such as CPA Australia or Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
