Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia The Council for Aboriginal Alcohol Program Services CAAPS Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

Ensure that all youth services (assessment, residential and outreach) are delivered in line with CAAPS CORE values, strategic direction, best practice standards, legislative requirements and within a culturally safe and ethical environment.

Some of your responsibilities will be:

    • Responsible to ensure the Youth Services program is delivered in accordance with contractual obligations, compliance, legislation and policies. The Youth Services program includes Initial Assessment Program (IAP) and Substance Treatment Program (STP)
  • Provide effective leadership, management, supervision and mentoring of YST to deliver the program.
  • Support the Senior Leadership to deliver CAAPS' purpose, vision and strategic goals.
  • Support the AOD-SM to deliver program reporting and administration.
  • Support the AOD-SM to manage program budget and expenditure.
  • Support the AOD-SM to deliver (and foster YST commitment to) continuous program improvement.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy as per legislation, policy and contractual obligations.
  • Promote high-quality service delivery within the program while safeguarding the integrity of the treatment model, ensuring program practices are evidence-based, person-centered, trauma-informed, culturally safe, and ethically sound.
  • Identify, establish, and sustain partnerships with external service providers to enhance the comprehensive support available for clients.
  • Prepare monthly reports and participate as part of the Senior Management Team Meetings
  • Coordinate YST roster, handover and meetings. Participate in the afterhours on-call rotation.
  • Lead employee onboarding.
  • Implement YST training programs to enhance retention, skills and capabilities.
  • Ensure that case planning with young people is of a high standard and in line with CAAPS model and emerging best practice.
  • Ensure that the assessment and screening of young people are conducted to a high standard, are culturally appropriate, and are tailored to meet the specific needs of the target population.
  • Participate in Cyclone Management/WHS and other Committees as required.
  • Maintain professional currency by remaining informed about updates in therapeutic intervention models, particularly those relevant to the treatment of trans-generational trauma.

Your skills, experience and qualifications include:

  • Certificate IV or higher qualification(s) in Youth Work or a directly related field of study
  • A minimum of 2 years' management, supervision or team leadership experience within therapeutic, community, or youth services settings, with a proven track record of implementing strategic initiatives, plus
    • a minimum of 2 years' frontline experience working with at-risk youth, including those with complex needs such as mental health, substance use, or trauma backgrounds
  • Sound knowledge of the issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Sound knowledge of trauma informed approaches to service delivery
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current and emerging challenges affecting the provision of AOD services to young people experiencing substance use issues.
  • Extensive knowledge of local and national issues related to health promotion, prevention and management
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current NT Driver's License (minimum C Class)
  • Current Criminal History Check
  • Current Ochre Card (Category E)
