The role

As our Clinical Assistant, you'll "work up" patients in our outpatient clinic before they see the doctor. That includes:

  • Checking vision, measuring eye pressure, and capturing diagnostic images/measurements
  • Accurately entering data into our electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Assisting in the treatment room; sterile technique experience is a plus (we'll teach you)
  • Assist with reception duties

  • Are computer-confident and comfortable learning new equipment
  • Have strong attention to detail and can transcribe measurements accurately
  • Work efficiently in a team and keep calm when it's busy
  • Are practical and organised (science/nursing background helpful but not required)

Training & support

  • On-site, on-the-job training provided
  • Some self-directed learning expected (we'll point you to good resources)

Hours & flexibility

  • Preferred: 2–3 days per week
  • Guaranteed day: Wednesdays and Thursdays, ~8:30am–4:30pm
  • Extra hours: Additional half-days to fill in
  • We're happy to discuss school-holiday time off — great for uni students or parents/carers

Pay

  • $35–$50 per hour (casual) — based on experience or PPT equivalent
  • Ophthalmology experience is a bonus, not a must. We'll train the right person.
