Mayver's Production Manager 2IC

Please note – This is a full time onsite role based at our production facility in Altona North, Victoria. Role is Monday to Friday full time (some Saturday's where required), commencing at 6am

As we continue to grow and expand our product range, we're now seeking a capable and driven Production Manager 2IC to support day to day production leadership and help drive a world class operations culture.

Position Overview:

As the Production Manager 2IC, you will work closely with the Production Manager to lead and support the daily running of our manufacturing operations. You will oversee multiple production lines, ensure safe and efficient output, manage labour allocation, and drive high engagement and communication across all production teams. This role is perfect for someone with strong FMCG production leadership experience who thrives in fast paced and hands-on environments.

Key Responsibilities

Production Leadership & Execution

• Assist the Production Manager with day to day oversight of all manufacturing activities.
• Lead daily shift operations, ensuring production plans are achieved safely and efficiently.
• Monitor line performance, coordinate changeovers, and remove bottlenecks to maintain output.
• Work closely with Planning, Warehouse, and Quality to execute daily and weekly schedules.
• Support new line commissioning, product launches, and trial runs when required.

Team Leadership, Labour Management & Development

• Manage daily labour planning, allocating team members to lines based on skill, capability, and business needs.
• Oversee all production team leaders and operators, providing hands-on leadership throughout each shift.
• Conduct daily pre shift huddles, ensuring clear communication of goals, safety messages, quality updates, and operational priorities.
• Facilitate end of shift handovers to maintain continuity, alignment, and cross shift awareness.
• Provide hands on coaching and role modelling on the floor, supporting team members with training, correct processes, machine operation, and best practice behaviours.
• Lead ongoing capability development across the production team, including upskilling, competency assessments, refresher training, and onboarding of new staff.
• Foster a high performance culture built on teamwork, accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.
• Support performance management processes, including attendance management, coaching, feedback conversations, and formal reviews.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure production operations comply with all GMP, HACCP, WHS, and internal quality requirements.
• Promote a safety first environment and ensure team adherence to PPE, SOPs, and food safety protocols.
• Support investigations for safety incidents, quality deviations, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
• Partner with the Quality and QA teams to maintain product specifications, minimise errors, and escalate issues promptly.

Efficiency, CI & Operational Excellence

• Drive improvements in OEE, line speed, waste reduction, and changeover times.
• Identify inefficiencies and lead small to medium continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to root cause analysis and ensure sustainable corrective actions are embedded.
• Support implementation of new systems, processes, equipment, and automation.

Administration & Reporting

• Maintain accurate shift records including output, downtime, labour, waste, materials usage, and safety checks. Ensure these are sent through post each shift to the SLT
• Support preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly production reports for the Head of Operations and Production Manager.
• Ensure clear communication across all shifts and functional teams.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in FMCG food or beverage production management is essential.
• Minimum 3+ years in production leadership
• Previous experience manufacturing products for Coles/ Woolworths/ Aldi highly desirable.
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to engage, coach, and develop teams.
• Skilled in labour allocation, shift organisation, and hands-on team supervision.
• Solid understanding of GMP, HACCP, WHS, and food manufacturing standards.
• Confident problem solver with strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Flexibility to support across shifts or weekends as required.
