About us
The System Performance Support branch team works in close partnership with health service executives, senior managers, and clinicians in collaboration with other Ministry of Health and health pillar staff to support the performance of health services.
Staff within the branch provide expert advice on issues that may impact on health system performance, identify opportunities for performance improvement, and assist health services in the development and implementation of improvement plans.
The branch promotes the implementation of state-wide patient flow initiatives that improve and enhance the delivery of high quality, efficient and effective health services for the NSW community.

About the role

The Project Officer supports the development and implementation of a range of projects and policy initiatives that contribute to achieving the Connected Care Team priorities in alignment with Government objectives. The role performs project management and policy support activities and provides informed advice to enable the System Performance Support Branch to oversee reforms that support the future vision for the health system.
Health Manager level 2, starting salary from $109,857 - $129,624 plus Super, with a 38-hour work week.
What you'll be doing
- Support managers and senior executives on a range of project management and support activities including preparation of reports, maintaining project documentation, and implementing and monitoring project plans to ensure project outcomes achieved.
- Support the procurement of appropriate services and resources to support program delivery as required and manage contract elements to ensure deliverables are met.
- Provide timely, expert advice and support to managers and the Senior Manager on specific issues relating to the delivery of key initiatives
- Research, analyse and review project issues, identifying emerging issues, provide support to develop evidence-based options, and recommend solutions to resolve problems.
- Support managers and senior executives to maintain productive internal and external stakeholder relationships through effective communication, collaboration, consultation, negotiation and issues management to ensure project deliverables and strategic objectives are met.
- Prepare high quality and insightful written materials (policy papers, meeting papers, reports, strategies, presentations and briefings) for managers, senior executives, the Minister and other parts of Government.
- Adopt flexible and innovative approaches to support managers and senior executives in changing situations to ensure over-arching objectives are still achieved.
- Administration, mailbox management and responding to executive Ministerial correspondence and requests.
About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- Demonstrated experience gained in a health-related industry, working effectively and cooperatively within a team environment with the ability to work autonomously.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in health-related project management with the ability to plan, organise, and implement projects on time.
- Demonstrated excellent organisational skills, the capacity to successfully complete several tasks concurrently and to achieve competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated high level and effective communication skills (both verbal and written) including the ability to synthesise and present complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare complex reports and a wide range of government documents, which include reporting of data.
- Ability to work flexibly and effectively across policy and program areas within the System Performance Support Branch, if applicable.
