The opportunity
The Coordinator Capital Projects role brings big ideas to life for the community. From open spaces and foreshore upgrades to buildings and facilities, you'll lead a passionate team to deliver major capital works, ensuring every project meets high standards and truly benefits residents. This hands-on leadership position shapes long-term plans, manages budgets and contracts, and champions innovation and collaboration across teams and stakeholders. What You'll Be Doing

  • Shaping long-term capital works programs that truly reflect Council's goals and community needs.
  • Overseeing major projects from start to finish, keeping everything on track, compliant, and cost-effective while making smart use of resources.
  • Building strong relationships with teams, contractors, and the community, ensuring every project feels inclusive and designed for people.
  • Championing good governance, managing procurement with integrity, and upholding health, safety, and equal opportunity standards across the board.
  • Mentoring and supporting your people, encouraging innovation, and creating a positive culture where everyone can grow and succeed.

What You'll Need To Succeed

  • Tertiary qualification in project management or a related discipline, or significant experience in lieu of formal qualifications.
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure planning, project management methodologies, and relevant legislation, with the ability to apply sustainable design principles.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, policy development, and governance within local or state government environments.
  • Extensive background in managing complex capital works programmes, including budgeting, contract management, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Skilled in leading diverse teams and engaging stakeholders, with a track record of successful change management and collaborative outcomes.
