The opportunity
Enjoy autonomy, leadership growth, and the chance to influence major infrastructure decisions in this newly created, high-impact role, shaping the future of drainage infrastructure. As Coordinator Drainage Engineering and Development, you'll manage a skilled team, drive strategic planning, and oversee capital works aligned with climate resilience and urban design. With strong technical expertise in stormwater, Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD), and flood modelling, you'll be the go-to expert balancing present needs with long-term goals. Making key contributions to Capital Works and supporting development assessments, you'll foster stakeholder partnerships to enhance stormwater and flood management across Hobsons Bay.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and manage the Drainage and Development team, ensuring high-quality service and operational excellence
- Oversee drainage assessments for development proposals, ensuring compliance with standards and legislation
- Coordinate drainage investigations, capital works, and maintenance programs aligned with strategic goals
- Provide expert advice on stormwater, WSUD, flood mitigation, and long-term asset planning
- Manage consultants and contractors to deliver projects that meet Council and community expectations
- Build strategic partnerships and promote innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement in drainage practices
What You'll Need To Succeed
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- A valid engineering registration (NER) in accordance with Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019
- Extensive practical experience in drainage networks and stormwater management, design and modelling
- Proven complex project management skills, including budget and contract management
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
