Overview
The Business Development Manager – C&I is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new Commercial & Industrial (C&I) customers across Australia. The role focuses on driving sustainable revenue growth through consultative, value-based selling of Nectr's electricity, solar, battery, and related energy solutions.
Reporting to the National Business Development Manager, the role works closely with state-based and national stakeholders to execute Nectr's C&I growth strategy, develop partner channels, and ensure high-quality customer outcomes from initial engagement through to contract execution and handover.
New Business Development
· Build and maintain a strong, qualified sales pipeline aligned to monthly and quarterly targets
· Develop tailored energy solutions based on customer usage, operational needs, and cost objectives
· Own the full sales cycle: prospecting, discovery, solution design, proposal, negotiation, and close
Channel & Partner Development
· Establish and grow relationships with brokers, installers, consultants, and referral partners
· Actively manage partner pipelines and conversion performance
· Represent Nectr at industry events, networking sessions, and partner meetings
Customer Engagement & Solution Selling
· Act as a trusted advisor to C&I customers, translating energy complexity into clear commercial value
Market Intelligence & Feedback
· Monitor competitor activity, pricing trends, and regulatory changes in the QLD C&I energy market
· Provide structured feedback to leadership on customer insights, objections, and opportunities
Reporting & Performance Management
· Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and pipeline reporting
· Track performance against agreed KPIs (leads, conversion, revenue, margin)
· Participate in regular pipeline and strategy reviews with Andrew and leadership
Key Accountabilities & Performance Outcomes
· Establish and maintain a strong, qualified C&I sales pipeline within Queensland
· Achieve agreed new business, revenue, and margin targets
Skills, Experience & Attributes
Essential
· Proven B2B business development experience (2+ years), ideally in energy, utilities, solar, or complex services
· Strong hunter mindset with demonstrated success winning new customers
· Experience managing longer sales cycles and multiple stakeholders
· Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
· Commercial acumen with the ability to articulate ROI and value
· Comfortable working autonomously in a growth environment
Desirable
· Experience selling electricity, solar, battery, or energy-related solutions
· Existing C&I or broker network in Queensland
· Experience working with CRM systems (Salesforce or similar)
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
· Minimum 2+ years' experience in B2B business development, preferably within energy, utilities, infrastructure, or complex services
· Demonstrated success in new business acquisition and pipeline development
· Experience managing multi-stakeholder, consultative sales processes
· Strong commercial and financial acumen, including ROI-based selling
· High level of written and verbal communication skills
