About the Role

Working under the direction of the Professor of Primary Care and System integration, the Senior Research Fellow will play a leadership role within the Primary Care and System Integration Research Team and will actively supervise and manage a small team of researchers and research assistants.

They will be responsible for managing and implementing current research projects including the NHRMC funded project, a randomised control trial evaluating a digital health solution and innovation to chronic disease management based at the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network.

The incumbent will deliver high quality, innovative, and interprofessional research to advance outcomes for people affected by chronic conditions, and will take a lead role in identifying, coordinating, and obtaining external funding opportunities.

The role is also responsible for:

  • Making an independent and original contribution to ethical, high quality and innovative research as a key member of the Primary Care and System Integration team through activities such as sustained high-quality publication, external grant acquisition, mentoring, while developing early career researchers, quality knowledge translation and dissemination.
  • Active involvement in strategic planning and professional activities relevant to promoting research and identifying opportunities to expand and grow research opportunities.
  • In a leadership capacity developing and maintaining strategic relationships, collaboration, and networks with a range of stakeholders including industry and external organisations, with an increasing national and/or international focus.
  • In collaboration with the Primary Care and System Integration, develop and implement strategic and operational plans for the Research team to meet agreed organisational objectives.

About You

With a background in a senior academic or research leadership position, you have Research Project management experience, along with a successful track record supervising higher degree students.
Your excellent communication both written and verbal, along with your interpersonal skills enable you to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, students and stakeholders.
Your ability to use your independent judgement and initiative, under minimal supervision, enables you to manage, organise and coordinate activities required for the functioning of a research-intensive unit.

You will also be able to demonstrate:

  • Evidence of a strong research track record (for career stage), at a national level, in an area aligned to the research strengths in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences and the Caring Futures Institute, including evidence of sustained high-quality publications with first authorship and attraction of competitive grants.
  • Coordinating randomised controlled trials to a high quality and high-level including recruitment and research outputs.
  • Evidence of digital health solutions experience.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining links with industry or research end-users and effective research collaborations.

You will also have completed a PhD or equivalent in nursing, exercise science, cancer care, health psychology, knowledge translation, or a health-related discipline.
