Primary objective

Apply legislative principles to determine releasable information from sensitive criminal record material for the production of

National Police Checks and other employment and probity screening requirements in an efficient, consistent, researched,

reproducible and accurate way, and operate the Continuous Monitoring program for WWC and NDIS screening.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Participate in the daily operations of SAFE NT to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of criminal history checking

services, the processing of inter jurisdictional requests for information and adherence to records management policy and

practices.

1. Assess identity matches, using initiative to determine problematic applications through research and access to multiple

sources of data from varied database applications.

1. Make daily decisions as to the applicability of the Criminal Records (Spent Convictions) Act, and other purpose specific

legislation in the disclosure of criminal records information in a consistent and accurate manner.

1. Engage with the public dealing with dispute management, email enquiries, and front counter services.
2. Research and release expanded history information for NDIS and Working with Children screening services.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Experience in the interpretation and direct application of legislation / policy in an operational and administrative decision-

making capacity in an objective and unbiased manner.

2. Ability to use initiative, self-motivate, maintain confidentiality and make authoritative decisions within delegation.

3. Proven high-level interpersonal and oral communication skills, including customer service experience.

1. Sound computer knowledge with proven accuracy in data entry and other keyboard skills, and an understanding of

records management and reporting principles

5. Proven organisational skills, with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and achieve outcomes as part of a team while

maintaining attention to detail.

6. High level of professional ethics and self-management with the proven ability to exercise sound judgement, maintain

strict confidentiality and display integrity and discretion.

Desirable

1. Knowledge and experience in the application of the Criminal Records (Spent Convictions) Act 1992.

2. Knowledge and experience in the use of NT Government databases including Police Realtime Online Management of

Information Systems (PROMIS), SerPro and/or the Integrated Justice Information System (IJIS).
