About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and safety-focused Permit to Work (PTW) Manager/Coordinator for the Testing and Commissioning phase of a water treatment facility upgrade in Rockhampton. This critical role governs the safe planning, coordination, and execution of energised and high-risk activities, ensuring all works comply with safety regulations, interface requirements, and project procedures.

As PTW Coordinator, you will coordinate and interface closely with construction, systems, and commissioning teams to manage the permit lifecycle across multidisciplinary scopes.

The role will require:

  • Working with or implementing a permit to work system on the project construction and commissioning phase
  • Prior experience/knowledge of isolation procedures (LOTO), energised commissioning procedures, hazard identification and risk management.
  • Interpret and understand work scope of drawings, P&IDs, electrical one lines, isolation plans and other pertinent drawings, to concur with electrical and mechanical isolations of various types
  • Responsible for Issue, modify and close LOTO permits, review and approval, understanding and agreeing the system or equipment to be completely isolated, that the work can be safely performed to protect both personnel and equipment.
  • Experience in issuing permits for hydro/pressure testing during construction phase and testing for commissioning
  • Monitoring and tracking permit status, ensuring timely close-out and adherence to project schedules
  • Maintaining accurate documentation, records, and good governance for all permit-related activities i.e. excavation, hot works, working at heights etc.
  • Report to the Project Safety Superintendent and act as subject matter expert for all PTW and isolation procedures and assist with audits, compliance checks to verify compliance with permit conditions and safe work practices
  • Prior pre-commissioning and commissioning experience
  • Prior experience with mechanical and electrical lockout/tagout isolations
  • A minimum of five years' experience relative experience of a facility and equipment operations or other relevant experience such as construction, field engineering, or operations in industrial, process or utility engineering or construction.
