Just Careers Training Pty Ltd t/a Licences 4 Work is a Registered Training Organisation that operates nationally. Licences 4 Work offers Nationally Recognised Training in the construction, safety and warehouse/ supply chain and logistics industries.
We are seeking a qualified and safety-conscious Load Rigger to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, securing, and detaching loads for crane lifting operations in accordance with industry standards, workplace procedures, and regulatory requirements. This role requires a high-risk work licence and involves working under general supervision with a strong duty of care for self and others.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare for Load Transfer
- Identify job hazards and implement control measures.
- Prepare and maintain the working area to meet industry standards and workplace procedures
- Report unsafe work practices and faulty equipment.
- Select and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Assess Lifting Requirements
- Review work operations plan to determine lift requirements, job method, sequence, and safety procedures.
- Confirm coordination needs with other site personnel.
- Determine load mass, dimensions, and center of gravity.
- Select and inspect lifting gear and equipment (e.g., slings, ropes, shackles, eye bolts, spreaders) based on safety charts and SWL/WLL tags.
- Tag, reject, and report damaged or worn items.
Secure Load
- Identify correct lifting and anchorage points.
- Connect lifting gear and secure load to lifting device per specifications and regulations.
- Perform preliminary lift to ensure load is properly rigged and secured.
- Take corrective actions if lift assessment reveals issues.
- Attach tag lines as needed based on wind conditions and site hazards.
Detach Load
- Safely release slinging attachments without injury or damage.
- Identify and report any damage to load or site.
- Maintain and store lifting gear and equipment according to specifications and guidelines.
What you need:
- Hold a current High Risk Work Licence for rigging (RA, RI, RA classes).
- Hold a valid Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or its equivalent.
- Significant industry experience in rigging (basic, intermediate, and/or advanced).
- Strong understanding of WHS regulations and High-Risk Work Licensing requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in assessing against national units of competency.
- Ability to assess other HRWL classes HIGHLY DESIRABLE
