Trainer & Assessor — Certificate IV in Environmentally Sustainable Management (11130NAT), Diploma of Artificial Intelligence (11287NAT), Advanced Diploma of Digital Marketing (11266NAT)
Note: This position description is developed as part of the ASQA registration process. The institution has not yet commenced delivery of these qualifications. Trainers will be appointed and allocated after course approval.
Position Purpose
The Trainer & Assessor will be responsible for delivering and assessing nationally accredited programs in sustainability, artificial intelligence, and digital marketing at AQF Levels 4–6. The role ensures graduates gain practical, industry-relevant skills to succeed in emerging roles such as Sustainability Officer, AI Business Specialist, and Digital Marketing Strategist.
The trainer must combine subject matter expertise with strong pedagogical and compliance knowledge, ensuring delivery meets ASQA's Standards for RTOs and relevant AQF descriptors.
Key Responsibilities
Training & Delivery
- Deliver 100% online training across allocated qualifications, using interactive learning methods, case studies, and project-based tasks.
Facilitate training in subject areas including:
Sustainability: EMS design, carbon minimisation, energy efficiency, waste management, sustainable workplace practices.
- Artificial Intelligence: Prompt engineering, AI-powered content creation, AI data insights & forecasting, customer experience optimisation, ethical AI frameworks.
- Digital Marketing: SEO/SEM, social media strategy, analytics, automation, programmatic advertising, content marketing, AI in marketing.
- Support learners in applying knowledge to diverse industries (business, government, consulting, marketing, operations).
- Embed ethical frameworks and compliance awareness (environmental standards, AI governance, data privacy).
- Develop, conduct, and mark assessments in line with competency-based outcomes.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and guide resubmissions.
- Participate in validation and moderation to ensure assessment integrity.
- Maintain accurate assessment records and mapping aligned to the units of competency.
- Provide academic and pastoral support for students from diverse backgrounds, including school leavers, professionals upskilling, and career changers.
- Mentor students in building professional portfolios (e.g., sustainability reports, AI adoption strategies, digital campaign case studies).
- Identify and support at-risk learners, ensuring interventions improve retention and completion.
- Bring current industry practice into training through real-world projects, guest speakers, and case studies.
- Align delivery with recognised industry certifications (e.g., Google Ads, GA4, AI micro-credentials, sustainability reporting frameworks).
- Ensure curriculum is responsive to emerging skills shortages in sustainability, digital transformation, and marketing.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40122) — mandatory.
Relevant higher qualification and/or extensive industry experience in one or more of:
Environmental Science / Sustainability / WHS
- Artificial Intelligence / Data / Digital Transformation
- Digital Marketing / Business / Communication
- Minimum 3–5 years of recent, relevant industry practice in the field being taught.
- Proven experience in online facilitation and assessment.
- Strong knowledge of AQF and ASQA compliance requirements.
Desirable
- Dual expertise across multiple domains (sustainability + AI, or AI + marketing).
- Industry certifications (Google, HubSpot, AI ethics, sustainability frameworks).
- Membership of professional associations (e.g., Environmental Institute of Australia, AIM, AI or Marketing institutes).
- Experience in curriculum development and program coordination.
