About the role

Parkdale Beach Cafe' is seeking an experienced and talented Head Chef to lead our kitchen team. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all culinary operations, developing innovative menus, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation. This full-time role is based in our cafe location in Parkdale, Victoria.

What you'll be doing

  • Developing and executing seasonal menus that showcase the finest local and sustainable ingredients
  • Managing kitchen staff, including scheduling, training, and performance reviews
  • Maintaining strict adherence to food safety and hygiene protocols
  • Collaborating with the management team to control food and labour costs
  • Continuously seeking ways to improve efficiency and streamline kitchen operations
  • Ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of all menu items
  • Fostering a positive and productive work environment in the kitchen

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Head Chef or in a similar leadership role within the hospitality industry
  • Proven track record of creating and implementing successful seasonal menus
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills
  • Strong leadership abilities and the ability to effectively manage a team
  • Thorough understanding of food safety regulations and best practices
  • Passion about food, food trends & creative
  • Culinary diploma or degree preferred
  • Have a positive can do attitude
