Brady and Associates Lawyers is looking to expand our team

We are a firm at Sutherland who pride ourselves on fostering a genuine and supportive workplace with an emphasis on trust and wellbeing amongst our team. If you are a capable Solicitor Advocate who values your role and your profession then you may well be the person we are looking for.   This is a unique opportunity to join a small, close-knit team.

Our ideal candidate is an admitted Solicitor, who should have at least 12months of experience practicing  as a solicitor preferably with developed advocacy skills and a good knowledge base of criminal law. They will show initiative and have the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a collaborative small team.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

· Appearing as a Solicitor Advocate in courts and tribunals.

· Instructing Counsel as required.

· Conferring professionally with clients and taking proper instructions.

· Building and maintaining your practice in general matters including wills, conveyancing and probate but primarily criminal, NCAT  and some civil law.

· Drafting legal correspondence, submissions, affidavits and witness statements.

· Preparing briefs, court documents, and case files for hearings and trials.

· Filing documents with courts and tribunals

· Attending court appearances, including mentions, bail applications, and hearings at Sutherland, Sydney, western Sydney and suburban courts.

· Liaising professionally with clients, police, counsel, and expert witnesses as required.

· Keeping up to date knowledge of practice areas

· Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client and case files in line with legal and ethical obligations. Competency in this regard is essential.

· Compliance with Professional rules and standards.

Key Skills and Experience:

· months+ of experience in practice, preferably appearing in criminal matters.

· Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) and admission as a legal practitioner in NSW.

· Strong advocacy, research, and problem-solving skills

· Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to explain legal matters clearly to clients.

· Organised, proactive, and able to work under pressure in fast-paced court environments.

· Desire to mentor and engage with junior staff

· Team player, keen to work in a close knit and collaborative environment.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and LEAP.

· Previous admin experience will be a bonus. Sense of humour essential.
