LOD (Lawyers On Demand) is one of the largest and fastest growing global legal services businesses, and as a 'new law' pioneer, we continue to lead the market we created.
We're a global business with offices around the world that focus on providing end-to-end solutions for our clients' legal needs, by connecting them with our team of exceptional legal professionals. We provide secondment opportunities, legal advisory services, and legal operations & tech solutions. Together, we find new ways to supercharge the value that legal professionals and in-house legal teams deliver.
With LOD, you get all the best bits of being a lawyer - interesting work with some of the world's most exciting organisations, plus the flexibility and freedom to live your life how you want.
Why Join LOD?
People come to us for a whole range of reasons – they might be looking for time for their interests, for work alongside other projects, or just want a change. What they all have in common is a desire for high quality work coupled with a degree of control that traditional models can't offer, but LOD can.
All of our LODs have worked at top tier firms or as part of major in-house teams. We only accept a small percentage of applications as we choose lawyers who are not only technically excellent, but who can work seamlessly with our client's teams. This ensures we can offer our lawyers consistently high-quality assignments.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a highly experienced senior employment lawyer to support a leading Melbourne based University on a wide range of employment and industrial relations matters. This is an exciting opportunity to provide strategic legal advice in a dynamic and complex workplace environment, working closely with senior stakeholders across both academic and professional streams.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment law, with proven experience advising on enterprise bargaining, workplace investigations, performance and misconduct matters, and compliance with the Fair Work framework. You'll be confident in delivering clear, risk-aware legal guidance to internal stakeholders, often in high-stakes or time-sensitive situations.
Key Requirements:
- 5+ years' PQE with a focus on employment and industrial relations law
- Strong understanding of the Fair Work Act, enterprise agreements, and public sector employment frameworks
- Experience handling complex employee relations matters, including disputes, grievances, and investigations
- Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder relationships and provide pragmatic, solutions-focused advice.
LOD is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. Diversity and inclusion is a core part of our Ways of Working, and we celebrate and embrace it. We know the individual differences of our people make us collectively better and we encourage all applicants; including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, career breaks, gender diverse, LGBTQIA, and culturally diverse communities to join us so we can do great things together.
