What you'll deliver with us

We are moving our development pipeline to DevOps. The Salesforce DevOps engineer will play a critical role in administrating and maintaining our DevOps pipelines, enhancing them, and working with the team to plan releases, identify problems and assist in resolving issues relating to DevOps. Your expertise will contribute to the overall stability, reliability, and scalability of our Salesforce environment while minimising risks associated with software releases. This DevOps role is responsible for supporting the implementation of best practice approaches to the Salesforce DevOps process.  Good communication skills are key as this role will communication release schedules, status updates, and any potential impacts to relevant stakeholders. Keeping process documentation up to scratch and fresh is key

A key aspect of this role surrounds understanding of automation and tooling. You will leverage automation capabilities various tooling and platforms to implement and maintain deployment and release processes, streamlining repetitive tasks and ensuring consistency across environments. This role will create and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of release and deployment processes, capturing best practices and standard operating procedures. This is a new role with us so we are looking for someone who can proactively seek opportunities to enhance release and deployment processes while staying current with industry best practices and emerging technologies in the Salesforce ecosystem.

You'll also

  • Identify and evaluate the risks associated with DevOps and maintain a risk register.
  • Identify areas for improvement and monitor DevOps activities on a regular basis.
  • Oversee and administer our git pipelines including building new capability and ensuring the lights stay on.
  • Ensure the whole team operates within the scope of the DevOps process.
  • Establish and govern a framework to support across business contribution and accountability for program deliverables including objectives and KPIs to drive accountability.
  • Work across the whole team to bring to driver cultural change and adherence to best practice DevOps
  • Involved with the end-to-end deployment process using GitLab, GitLab Runners and a bespoke DevOps process specific to Salesforce,
  • Implement version control practices to track changes and configurations in the Salesforce environment. This ensures efficient rollbacks and historical tracking of changes.
  • Identify potential risks and issues associated with releases and deployments and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure system integrity.
  • Work closely with QA teams to define testing strategies ensuring comprehensive test coverage and validating the functionality and performance of Salesforce releases.

About you

We are seeking an individual who can influence team outcomes beyond span of control by brokering consensus among stakeholders. Additionally, you will have the ability to prioritise and coordinate releases often involving changes from multiple stakeholders and change owners often with complex packages. The key stakeholders include the release team. Ultimately we need someone with understanding of DevOps best practices.

You'll also need

  • Background running or implementing DevOps within a Salesforce environment.
  • Knowledge of core Salesforce clouds including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Community Cloud as well as Salesforce DX and the different Salesforce Metadata types.
  • Understanding the enterprise project governance lifecycle model sufficiently to ensure project delivery occurs successfully.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Bitbucket, Gitlab leveraging pipelines and Gitlab runners.
  • Open to work a flexible work schedule including after-hours to co-ordinate releases.
  • Expert understanding of Salesforce architecture, components, and integrations.
  • Background in release/deployment management in a Salesforce environment is advantageous.
  • Excellent understanding of git conflict management and willingness to assist team members to resolve complex conflicts.
