With a focus on compliance, process excellence, and professional development, this position is ideal for someone who thrives in an environment where your expertise is valued and your growth is encouraged.
What you'll do:
As Payroll and Finance Lead based in Brisbane City, you will be entrusted with overseeing the seamless delivery of payroll services across multiple regions while managing employee expense claims from initiation through resolution.
- Provide proactive leadership to payroll and administration team members by modelling effective communication and nurturing a cohesive work environment.
- Oversee the complete payroll cycle for Australia and New Zealand including data maintenance in payroll systems, statutory lodgements such as Superannuation and Payroll Tax, as well as Single Touch Payroll reporting.
- Manage the end-to-end employee expense claim process with attention to detail and adherence to company policies.
- Coordinate the administration of remuneration information for both staff and contractors by ensuring accurate inputs into HRIS systems and collaborating with People & Culture teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Support managers and employees with payroll-related queries while maintaining up-to-date payroll systems for optimal accuracy.
- Generate regular reports on payroll activities, resource utilisation, timelines, and deliverables for internal stakeholders.
- Deliver training sessions on payroll processes to ensure adequate backup coverage within the team and promote knowledge sharing.
- Ensure all payroll activities comply with relevant standards, regulations, confidentiality requirements, and company procedures at all times.
- Act as an escalation point for critical or time-sensitive incidents outside standard business hours when required by business needs.
- Champion a customer-first mindset within the team by promoting respect, inclusivity, ethical leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you bring:
To excel as Payroll and Finance Lead you will bring substantial hands-on experience in managing intricate payroll cycles across Australia and New Zealand.
- Possess a business-related diploma or equivalent qualifications from a recognised institution or university relevant to finance or payroll functions.
- Demonstrate at least three years' experience managing end-to-end payroll delivery for Australia and New Zealand within a complex organisational structure.
- Show proven experience in finance administration roles within ERP environments; familiarity with SAP is highly regarded but not essential.
- Exhibit advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis, reporting, and reconciliation tasks related to payroll operations.
- Display meticulous attention to detail coupled with a strong sense of responsibility for meeting strict deadlines impacting business outcomes across multiple regions.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels-both internally across departments and externally with vendors or suppliers.
- Demonstrate the ability to identify solutions proactively when faced with challenges in complex payroll environments while maintaining composure under pressure.
- Build dependable relationships founded on trust by being responsive within geographically dispersed teams; flexibility regarding occasional meetings outside standard hours is appreciated.
- Uphold high ethical standards by handling sensitive information discreetly while enforcing compliance with policies and procedures rigorously.
- Showcase leadership qualities through coaching others towards professional development goals whilst inspiring passion for quality outcomes.
