Sydney, New South Wales, Australia APA Group Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

The Opportunity

At APA, our purpose is to secure Australia's energy future. We're not doing it alone. We're doing it with our customers and communities as Australia's energy infrastructure partner, a role our unique experience and expertise positions us to play.

We're looking for an experienced PMO Analyst to join our Technology Portfolio and help us deliver technology projects with confidence and clarity.

Reporting to the Technology Portfolio & Governance Manager, you'll be the link between our project teams and leadership - making sure projects stay on track, risks are managed, and our technology investments deliver real value to the business.

This role suits someone who loves working with data, enjoys bringing order to complexity, and wants to make a tangible impact on how we deliver technology across the organisation.

What You'll Do

  • Monitor and report on project progress, budgets, and timelines - preparing clear dashboards and reports for leadership
  • Facilitate stage-gate governance reviews to ensure projects meet quality standards and decision criteria at each phase
  • Track value realisation by ensuring projects deliver the benefits promised in business cases
  • Analyse the portfolio of technology projects, recommend priorities, and help leadership decide where to invest
  • Review business cases and challenge estimates to ensure projects deliver real value
  • Identify and manage risks before they become problems, working with teams to resolve issues and dependencies
  • Establish and maintain project management tools, templates, and standards that help teams deliver effectively
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance our project delivery processes and practices
  • Guide project teams on processes and best practices across Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery approaches

The Skills and Experience You'll Bring

  • Proven track record of bringing analytical depth to PMO or Portfolio Management functions
  • Experience with stage-gate governance and value realisation frameworks
  • Strong analytical skills—comfortable working with data, creating reports, and spotting trends
  • Proficiency with PPM tools such as MS Project, Jira, Smartsheet, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms
  • Experience with Power BI for creating dashboards and data visualisation
  • Experience with different delivery methods including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid approaches
  • Excellent communication skills - able to explain complex information clearly to all audiences
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint for analysis and presentations
  • Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile) is highly valued

This one is for you if:

You're someone who gets things done and takes ownership of your work. You collaborate naturally across teams, adapt quickly to change, and aren't afraid to speak up when something doesn't add up. You focus on outcomes that make a real impact, while paying close attention to the details.

Most importantly, you think strategically - able to see the bigger picture while managing the day-to-day complexities of technology portfolio management.

This is a high-impact, high-visibility role offering direct exposure to strategic technology initiatives and senior leadership. You'll have access to professional development and certification support, thrive within a collaborative team environment, and benefit from clear career progression pathways into Technology or PMO leadership roles.
