Your New Role
As Senior Associate, Investment Tax, you'll support tax‑informed decision‑making across domestic and international investments, helping ensure structures align with Aware Super's tax risk appetite and protect member outcomes. You'll work closely with Investments, Legal, Risk and Group Tax, and engage with external advisers and our custodian to deliver clear, practical advice.
- Support tax due diligence on proposed investments and recommend optimal structures; prepare clear, well‑documented advice and ensure investment set‑up reflects the agreed tax structure.
- Provide ongoing tax input to portfolio management; maintain structure diagrams and coordinate with Group Tax to enable accurate tax compliance across acquisition, hold and exit.
- Monitor legislative and ATO changes (including relevant foreign regimes); contribute technical research, insights and inputs for governance forums and industry submissions.
- Build strong relationships with external tax advisers and recommend when to brief work out.
- Drive continuous improvement across processes, templates and systems to reduce risk, remove duplication and simplify how we work.
How do you exceed our expectations?
- The idea of being part of our growth is exciting and you want to play a pivotal role in making super simple.
- 6+ years' tax experience focused on structuring within superannuation, funds management, banking and/or professional services; tertiary qualifications in commerce or law; postgraduate tax/accounting credentials (e.g., MTax/LLM or CA) highly regarded.
- Strong technical command of Australian tax and working knowledge of foreign tax laws and common vehicles (e.g., Cayman, Luxembourg), with the ability to produce concise, actionable advice.
- Analytical, detail‑driven problem‑solver who can manage competing priorities and tight timelines.
- Skilled communicator and influencer. Confident partnering with Investments, Legal, Risk, Group Tax, the custodian and external advisers.
- Purpose‑led and improvement‑minded, working within Aware Super's tax risk appetite and Code of Conduct while continually developing your craft.
- You are balanced in accepting risk in any decision you face. You are curious to understand risk context and choose to speak up as we simplify, learn and grow.
Employee Experience
We understand that not everyone works in the same ways. We value flexibility and know that it helps you manage work and life.
