Senior/Associate Civil Engineer – Renewable Energy
11 hours ago
- Lead civil design for renewable energy projects, including solar, wind and battery energy storage systems (BESS)
- National role with clear pathway to leadership in a growing business group
- Work on complex renewable energy project designs across Australia
Are you ready to power the future of Australia's energy infrastructure?
WSP is expanding our Power & Energy business and we're looking for a future-focused Senior or Associate Civil Engineer to join our growing Renewable Energy team. This national role offers the opportunity to work on some of the most complex and high-profile energy projects in the country, while building your leadership path in a business that's scaling fast.
We're working on exciting projects including wind farms, solar farms and BESS. While there is a focus on renewable energy projects, this role will support the broader Power & Energy business with scope to work on transmission and distribution, and other forms of generation.
What You'll Do
- Provide expert civil engineering advice to developers, owners, and financiers in the energy sector.
- Design and/or manage: solar pile foundations; solar farm systems and infrastructure; access roads; grading; drainage; retaining walls; stormwater systems; wind turbine foundations; BESS foundations; crane hardstands; stream, creek and river crossings; MV station pads; site construction facilities; operation and maintenance facilities; conceptual BESS, wind and solar farms layouts; and other civil infrastructure associated with renewable projects.
- Deliver or coordinate technical assessments: quarry, traffic, earthworks, drainage, construction noise, and geotechnical investigations.
- Contribute to concept and balance-of-plant designs for wind, solar, and battery projects.
- Review detailed designs as Owner's Engineer and conduct site inspections across Australia.
- Lead and manage consulting engagements, with increasing responsibility aligned to your experience.
- Support bids and business development for renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate across disciplines and mentor junior engineers as you grow into a leadership role.
This is more than a job, it's your chance to lead the civil design in Australia's renewable energy industry and grow your career in a team that values technical excellence, innovation, and leadership.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- 8+ years of experience in civil engineering, ideally in a consulting environment.
- Strong technical capability in civil design and documentation for renewable energy projects. Experience with wind turbine foundations design will be looked on favourably but is not essential.
- Experience with Safety in Design practices and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Skilled in design management and confident leading project delivery.
- Chartered (CPEng), RPEQ, or working toward professional registration.
- Excellent communicator and relationship builder with a strategic mindset.
- Passionate about renewables and ready to step into a national leadership path.
- On-site renewables experience is highly desirable.
