Workfast is looking for a hands-on and reliable Mechanical Trade Assistant to assist fitters and Boilermakers for our client who are a large manufacturing business based in Crestmead, QLD.

Location: Crestmead, QLD

Pay Rate: $ $36.00 per hour + Overtime + Super

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm (arvo shifts also on offer)

Start Date: ASAP

This is a long-established and highly respected service and maintenance provider to freight rail rolling stock operators, known for flexibility and quality workmanship.This is a practical, shop floor-based role offering consistent full-time hours and the potential to transition into a permanent position. Full on-the-job training will be provided.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Assisting trades such as Boilermakers and Maintenance Fitters
  • Loading and unloading of manufactured cable
  • Assisting with bearing seal breakdown and bearing buffing
  • General housekeeping and cleaning duties
  • Using hand, air, and power tools
  • Maintaining a safe and organised workshop environment

About You

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or workshop environment
  • Have a valid Forklift ticket (LF)
  • Experience in basic welding
  • Competency with hand, air, and power tools
  • Physically fit and able to handle manual tasks
  • Safety-conscious and reliable
  • Strong team player with good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
