Payroll & Billings Officer – 6 Month Fixed Term Contract Sydney | Hybrid Working

About the Role We are seeking an experienced and detail-driven Payroll & Billings Officer to join our team on a 6-month full-time fixed term contract.

You will be responsible for managing end-to-end agency payroll for approximately 600 contractors and temporary employees, along with overseeing the invoicing and billing cycle for our client accounts.

This position is ideal for someone with strong payroll knowledge and billing experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced, professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end agency payroll for approximately 600 contractors and temporary staff using Astute Payroll
  • Validate and reconcile timesheets, leave, allowances and deductions
  • Manage PAYG, superannuation and other statutory obligations
  • Prepare, issue and reconcile client invoices and billing reports
  • Support payroll and billing audits and month-end reporting
  • Maintain employee and client data with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality
  • Collaborate with consultants, finance and client contacts to resolve payroll and billing queries

About You

  • Minimum 2–4 years' experience in end-to-end payroll (agency or contractor payroll experience essential)
  • Proficiency in Astute Payroll and Microsoft Excel
  • Sound understanding of payroll legislation, awards and compliance
  • Previous experience in a recruitment, labour-hire or professional services environment
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management and stakeholder communication skills
