At COPE, we're committed to providing exceptional mental health services to NDIS participants in the Perth metropolitan area with a psychosocial disability. Our team of dedicated professionals is passionate about helping individuals reach their full potential. We're currently seeking a Psycho-Social Support Worker to join our expanding outreach team.

About the Role

As a Psychosocial Support Worker, you'll provide individualised support services to NDIS participants experiencing serious and persistent mental health difficulties. You'll work collaboratively with participants to develop personalised goals and form professional working relationships to help participants navigate their daily lives and achieve their aspirations. In addition, you'll play a key role in connecting participants to community support services and resources, helping them build stronger social networks and access essential community-based services.

This opportunity involves outreach work in the local community; therefore, a full driver's license and reliable vehicle are needed. The successful candidate will be required to use their private motor vehicle for transporting participants while delivering support or services. Travel is required as part of the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to NDIS participants, tailored to their unique mental health challenges and personal goals.
  • Work with participants to identify and develop personalised goals, fostering a sense of achievement and independence.
  • Establish and maintain strong, professional, and supportive relationships with participants to promote trust and engagement.
  • Encourage participants to take an active role in their recovery, helping them build skills and confidence to navigate daily tasks.
  • Help participants access relevant community services and supports, such as housing, employment, education, and social activities.

Selection Criteria:

Essential:

  • A genuine commitment to working with individuals experiencing mental illness.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, creativity, compassion, and empathy.
  • Understanding of the person-centered approach.
  • Confidentiality and diversity awareness.
  • Ability to plan, organise, and manage workload effectively.

Desirable:

  • Minimum qualification of Cert III or working towards a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a relevant field.
  • Relevant experience in mental health community support.
  • Excellent skills in engaging and working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience providing evidence-based interventions for mental health issues (e.g., cognitive behavioural therapy).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the NDIS.
