Claremont, Western Australia Town of Claremont Full time $60,000 - $90,000 per year

The Town is seeking a full time Accountant to work as an integral member of a small and dedicated team.  This role will provide technical guidance on a broad range of financial matters. Key responsibilities of the position include:

  • Complete month end processing and prepare high quality council reports.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations including investments, general ledgers, loans, creditors, debtors and payroll.
  • Overseeing the Town's grant, term deposit and loan registers.
  • Prepare transaction entries (journals).
  • Prepare the Town's Fringe Benefits Tax and Business Activity Statement returns.
  • Assisting with preparation of the annual budget and mid-year budget review.

What we are looking for

Experience in Local Government accounting is not essential but will be highly desirable. The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in accounting, commerce or equivalent.
  • Be detail orientated individual who understands the importance of accuracy and reporting timeframes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
