The Opportunity
Join our Security Operations team as a Technical Cyber Business Analyst in our Melbourne office. Reporting to the Head of Security Operations, the Technical Cyber Business Analyst, is a senior hands-on analyst responsible for enabling the Scaled Security Group (SSG) in achieving outcomes.
The analyst works closely with stakeholders around the business to define business needs, improve processes, build maturity in documentation and protected offerings and contribute to the goals of the SSG. This position supports the delivery of the SSG strategy pillars to be Threat Led, expand our observability & adapt to evolving external threats by adopting a shift-left approach for Vocus Security.
What you'll be doing day-to-day
As Technical Cyber Business Analyst you'll be responsibilities will also include the below.
- Analyse and map current and future business processes to identify pain points, risks, and opportunities for improvement across both PROTECTED and unclassified environments
- Act as a subject matter expert in the integration and dissemination of systems and data related to key threat areas and security tooling, including exposure management (XM), endpoint detection (EDR/XDR), vulnerability management (VM), and end-of-life (EOL) asset tracking
- Support Vocus's cyber incident readiness by facilitating post-incident reviews, managing incident reporting, and tracking implementation of recommendations and corrective actions
- Present findings and insights to both technical and senior audiences in a clear, professional, and actionable manner
- Build strong relationships across the business and project teams by being approachable, communicative, and knowledgeable
- Contribute to the successful delivery of initiatives by producing high-quality documentation
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to clarify requirements and ensure solutions are fit-for-purpose and aligned with business needs
What you'll bring to this role
- Active security clearance holder, with the ability to support maturity of processes and offerings for Class 1 customers in both PROTECTED and unclassified environments
- Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines while delivering high-quality outcomes to stakeholders
- Extensive experience using collaboration and documentation platforms such as SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, JIRA, Confluence, and Visio to support cross-functional initiatives
- Skilled in creating robust documentation from scratch, including business processes, threat advisories, and engineering artefacts that support the organisation's security posture and strategic objectives
- Strong problem-solving mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement and delivering practical, value-driven solutions
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex cybersecurity concepts to non-technical stakeholders and bridge technical detail with business impact
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity and IT principles, including regulatory frameworks relevant to critical infrastructure (e.g., SOCI)
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain constructive relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
- Passionate about cybersecurity and technology, with a collaborative approach and eagerness to share knowledge across teams
