Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Davidson Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year
  • Lead enterprise-wide billing operations and transformation for a major retail utility
  • Drive accuracy, compliance, and customer confidence across billing, metering, and data systems
  • City-fringe location, hybrid working

Davidson is proud to partner with a leading retail utility provider servicing one of Australia's fastest-growing regions, seeking an accomplished operational leader to take ownership of a critical enterprise function - billing and revenue operations. This newly redefined role offers end-to-end accountability for the organisation's billing systems, data, and processes across the full property-to-cash lifecycle. It represents a rare opportunity to lead a significant reset of billing operations during a period of modernisation and digital transformation.

Reporting to the General Manager, Customer Experience, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of approximately 100, including billing, metering, and customer data specialists. Your mandate is to deliver accurate, timely, and compliant billing and customer communications, while modernising systems, processes, and governance across a complex, high-volume environment. You'll act as the enterprise owner for all billing platforms (including core billing, self-service, and customer communication systems), ensuring their reliability, integration, and continual improvement. Working closely with technology, operations, and customer leaders, you'll embed structure, discipline and customer focus into every aspect of the billing lifecycle.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Lead and optimise end-to-end billing operations and associated revenue functions.
  • Oversee metering accuracy, property data management, and customer communication processes.
  • Own billing platform performance and continuous enhancement (Oracle environment).
  • Embed a quality and compliance framework that supports regulatory standards and audit readiness.
  • Drive transformation, process improvement, and digital capability uplift across the billing value chain.
  • Build capability and cohesion across teams to deliver service excellence and operational efficiency.

To be successful in this role you will be an experienced operational leader with deep knowledge of billing systems and processes, ideally gained in regulated sectors such as utilities, energy, transport, or telecommunications. You will have led end-to-end billing or customer operations functions and know what it takes to stabilise, modernise, and optimise complex environments.

Your leadership style is hands-on, structured and outcomes focused. You are equally comfortable resolving operational issues as you are shaping strategy. You bring a strong sense of accountability and collaboration, underpinned by a customer-first mindset and a commitment to compliance and continuous improvement.

What You'll Bring:

  • Proven leadership of billing or revenue operations in large-scale, customer-facing environments.
  • Strong governance, compliance, and risk management acumen.
  • Experience leading operational recovery or transformation programs.
  • Ability to integrate people, process, and technology to achieve measurable results.
  • Deep working knowledge of billing platforms and data management.

Why Join?

This is a pivotal opportunity to lead a critical enterprise function through a transformative phase, in a purpose-driven organisation with a strong community mandate. You'll join a collaborative leadership team committed to operational excellence, service integrity, and customer trust.
