About the Business Unit:
Victim Services, Support and Reform (VSSR) is part of the Police, Racing, Victims and Coordination (PRVC) group in the Department of Justice and Community Safety and is responsible for coordinating a suite of services for victims of crime that provide information and support to help manage the effects of crime and guide victims through the criminal justice system across Victoria. VSSR leads the development, design and implementation of innovative service responses to victims of crime in the criminal justice system.
The Restorative Justice for Victims of Crimeprogramdelivers restorative justice service options to victim survivors of family violence through the Family Violence Restorative Justice Service (FVRJ Service). It is responsible for the design and implementation of ways to support victims of crime to participate in restorative justice processes. This includes support for victims of crime to participate in Restorative Processes.
Victim Support for Youth Justice provides a state-wide service to victims of crime who participate in Youth Justice Group Conferencing (YJGC), a legislated post plea, pre-sentence Children's Court option. The program is expanding to support victims within other types of restorative processes, such as Children's Court Youth Diversion conferencing. The purpose of this work is to increase victims' satisfaction with the Children's Court and increase victim participation in YJ Restorative Processes. The team provides trauma informed information and support and relevant case management referrals to further assist with victim recovery.
About the Role:
The Victims Liaison Officer position is responsible for coordination of support and representation of victims within the YJGC program in Victoria and working in collaboration with Youth Justice and funded providers. The role supports victims in pre and post conference client meetings and conference participation in metropolitan and regional Victoria. The position provides relevant information, advice, and training to key stakeholders to enhance victim centric practice and outcomes.
Some of your duties will include:
- Providing effective advice and support and represent victims at selected restorative processes across Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victoria – including intensive pre and post process support
- Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with stakeholders and collaborating to secure positive victim and service system outcomes
- Participating in the preparation and facilitation of specialised victim sector and YJ training to key stakeholders such as YJGC providers, the Victims of Crime (VOC) Helpline, Victoria Police and Victims Assistance Program (VAP) agencies.
The role requires local and regional travel and may occur outside of business hours, this requires an applicant who possesses a current Victorian driver's licence and flexible availability.

About You:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice and experience working with victim survivors
- Extensive understanding of restorative processes
- Extensive understanding of the Victorian criminal justice and youth justice sys tems
- An understanding of the Victorian victim service system and associated legislation.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- A relevant qualification and experience in the Human Services or Criminal Justice fields is desirable.
