Job Overview / Purpose of the Role

The job holder is responsible for providing full HR operational support for the defined markets and general support for regional Human Resources in terms of HR projects and operations initiatives.

Geographical Scope:

  • Providing HR operational support for the designated business unit, including DC, manufacturing, and support functions at site.
  • Total estimated headcount: 80–100
  • Payroll management and general HR support for the region.

Critical Accountabilities:

Responsible for supporting the business in delivering the full spectrum of HR activities for the assigned location, which includes but is not limited to:

  • End-to-end processing of all hourly (weekly) and salaried (fortnightly) payrolls.
  • End-of-month and quarterly reporting, including finance liability reports, plant HR KPIs, payroll tax, and headcount reports.
  • Annual processes required by legislation, including payroll end-of-financial-year, payroll tax, and workers' compensation reconciliations, as well as workplace equality reporting.
  • Local hourly and salaried recruitment.
  • Investigate, recommend, and implement compensation and benefits practices to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness, where applicable.
  • Work closely with HR CoE support, plant or line managers to roll out regional HR policies, processes, and programs to attract, retain, develop, and motivate employees.
  • Maintenance and administration of local policies and procedures.
  • Advise management on the implications of employment issues on internal company policies, keeping abreast of industry practices and government regulations, and proposing recommendations as needed.
  • Assist plant management with employee workplace negotiations.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation claims and administer return-to-work action plans.
  • Ensure HR processes comply with corporate/regional guidelines through periodic HR/finance audits at site.
  • HR support for external quality and environmental audits (ISO).
  • Provide coaching, advice, and support to local management and employees on HR-related issues.
  • Collaborate with general management to achieve back-office synergies where necessary.
  • Manage on-the-job training processes for plant employees.
  • Provide support on projects/initiatives within assigned portfolio, including:

HRIS

Compliance training and tracking

  • Assist in collecting information/reports as required by corporate/regional management:

Ad-hoc projects

Trade union and workplace agreement support

  • Contribute to the implementation of HR initiatives, including:

Annual compensation review process

Talent review process

Annual operating plan process

  • Serve as focal point for training and development programs:

Champion rollout of management and leadership training

Support employee development based on performance data

Complete annual talent review process in line with corporate requirements

Ensure follow-through of action plans from talent reviews

Organize mandatory plant training, including first aid and equipment training

  • Lead work process improvement where required, e.g., induction/orientation processes.
  • Represent the company in internal and external HR meetings as needed.
  • Undertake other responsibilities consistent with skills, qualifications, and experience as required.

Qualifications (Education / Experience / Key Competencies)

  • Degree holder with at least 5 years of HR leadership experience, preferably in a generalist HR role in manufacturing or similar industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Diploma in HR or personnel management is an advantage.
