  • Lead forensic disability clinical services for Victoria
  • Drive evidence-based assessment and treatment
  • Enhance community safety through positive client outcomes

About the organisation

The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) works to improve the wellbeing of all Victorians, with a focus on delivering services and policies that promote safety, respect, and equity. This includes areas such as child protection, housing, disability support, and family safety. DFFH prides itself on fostering an inclusive workplace that encourages diversity and seeks collaborative solutions to complex community challenges. Forensic Disability Services, part of Statewide Disability and Housing Operations, supports people with cognitive disabilities involved in the justice system through targeted interventions that reduce reoffending and improve quality of life.

About the role

Reporting to the Director, Forensic Disability Services, the Chief Clinician leads the Forensic Disability Clinical Services program and guides the delivery of evidence-based interventions for clients with complex needs. This includes managing clinical teams, overseeing assessments, treatment plans, and outcomes, and engaging with key stakeholders such as courts, parole boards and statutory bodies. The Chief Clinician is responsible for performance management, staff development, and ensuring compliance with legislative and programmatic requirements. The role also contributes to service innovation by developing and evaluating assessment tools and embedding best-practice therapeutic principles to meet emerging needs in this highly specialised area.

About you

You are a highly experienced registered psychologist, ideally with expertise in the forensic disability or related area of specialisation. You are skilled in managing complex stakeholder relationships and have a proven ability to oversee evidence-based interventions for clients with cognitive disabilities. Your ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, provide clinical supervision, and develop innovative approaches to assessment and treatment will be key to your success. Harness your commitment to client outcomes through the provision of outstanding leadership and the continuous improvement of this critical state-wide service.
