About the Opportunity
Our client-a federal government agency responsible for national measurement standards, regulatory compliance, and market assurance-is seeking an experienced Program Coordinator (APS6 equivalent) to support the development, management and evaluation of national compliance programs.
This is a long-term hourly-rate contract suited to a candidate with strong analytical capability, excellent stakeholder skills, and the confidence to coordinate multiple regulatory programs in a complex operating environment.
About the Organisation
The agency plays a central role in maintaining Australia's measurement system and ensuring fair, safe and compliant trade in goods and services. Through its regulatory and compliance functions, the organisation monitors market behaviour, enforces legislation, and works with industry to promote accurate measurement practices across a broad range of sectors.
Within the agency, the Programs and Governance area is responsible for coordinating national compliance programs, supporting operational teams, managing regulatory data, and providing advice to senior leadership on trends, risks and program performance.
The Role
Reporting to a senior program manager, the Program Coordinator - National Compliance Programs will work closely with operational teams, policy officers, industry stakeholders, and internal executives to:
- Research compliance trends and analyse regulatory intelligence.
- Develop national compliance program proposals, including risk assessments and intervention strategies.
- Prepare detailed program and project plans that support improved marketplace compliance.
- Coordinate the end-to-end delivery of multiple compliance programs throughout the annual cycle.
- Monitor outcomes against targets and lead evidence-based adjustments to program design and delivery.
- Prepare evaluation reports, insights, and recommendations for leadership committees.
- Engage with industry bodies, associations, and influencers to support compliance outcomes.
- Present program findings or intelligence to internal and external audiences when required.
- Support continuous improvement of compliance program methodology, reporting, and governance.
This role requires strong coordination, stakeholder engagement, and analytical capability. The position operates in a high-complexity, fast-moving regulatory environment.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with influence and adapt messaging to different audiences.
- Capacity to quickly develop subject matter knowledge related to legislation, policy, and compliance operations.
- A high degree of professionalism, discretion, confidentiality, and commitment to continuous improvement.
Mandatory Requirements
- Australian Citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a police check and baseline security clearance
- Ability to acquire sound operational knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Project management qualifications or practical project delivery experience
- Experience with data analysis, reporting systems or compliance intelligence tools
- Willingness to contribute to organisational wellbeing (e.g., WHS, first aid, capability support roles)
